SEA Games: PH football teams pit against defending champion Vietnam

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines national football teams are expected to cut their jobs soon for the Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam after being grouped with the defending champions. enemy.

Both national teams are in the same group as Vietnam, the defending champion in both men’s and women’s content at the SEA Games.

Joining the Philippines and Vietnam women’s teams in Group A are Indonesia and Cambodia.

Laos, Myanmar, Singapore and 2019 silver medalist Thailand are in Group B.

The Philippine female athletes missed out on a bronze medal in the previous edition of the Olympics after a 2-1 loss to Myanmar.

In the men’s event, the Azkals U-23 team will face Vietnam, the silver medalist in 2019 is Indonesia, the bronze medalist in 2019 is Myanmar and Timor-Leste in Group A of the final round while Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and Singapore are in Group B.

Only the top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals.

SEA Games 31 will take place from May 12 to 23 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
