“Today is not a day of sadness, but a day of joy because we have once again won the best championship in the world. I am very proud of myself and so is my family. We lived many magical nights together.

“I tell you one thing, the future of Madrid is very good for young players. Hala Madrid. ”

Marcelo added that his relationship with Real was not over yet, saying he would do “something different at the club” in the future.

The 34-year-old has made more than 500 appearances for the club and inherited the captaincy from Sergio Ramos after the Spaniard moved to Paris St Germain last year.
