The coach of the Manchester City , Pep Guardiola , tested positive covid-19 , as announced on Thursday his club, where seven players and fourteen members of the coaching staff are currently in isolation.

The Catalan coach will therefore not be in charge of his team on Friday in the 3rd round of the English Cup against Swindon Town (4th category), nor will his assistant Juanma Lillo , also positive. It will be another assistant, Rodolfo Borrell , who will act as head coach.

In mid-December, Guardiola already had a positive antigen test, but the control PCR was later negative. Guardiola joins the long list of coaches who have been infected with covid-19 in the Premier League, where the virus continues to mark today.

At the end of December, Steven Gerrard (Aston Villa) tested positive and was followed a few days later by Mikel Arteta (Arsenal). Last week it was Jürgen Klopp (Liverpool) who tested positive and could not be on the bench against Chelsea (2-2). His deputy Pepijn Linders took his place, who also tested positive on Tuesday.

This Thursday, Burnley coach Sean Dyche was also in isolation due to the coronavirus.

Covid-19 has caused 18 postponed matches in the Premier League in recent weeks .
