MU won Aston Villa 1-0 and entered the fourth round of the FA Cup this season after the match at Old Trafford on the morning of January 11 (Hanoi time).

McTominay scored after receiving a cross from Fred and correctly headed the ball after 8 minutes. “Reds” had the best start of the game under coach Ralf Rangnick. However, MU played hard in the next minutes and thanks to luck to win Aston Villa.

Fred – McTominay team contributed to MU’s goal, but both played badly in this match. Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani also played disappointingly. The bright spot of MU lies in the defense, especially the performance of Raphael Varane.

The Guardian assessed that MU played badly against Aston Villa, but the good defense system of the “Red Devils” helped them win minimally. MU will meet Middlesbrough in the fourth round of the FA Cup this season.

MU does not have the service of Cristiano Ronaldo in this match because CR7 has a slight injury. Jadon Sancho has a hamstring injury. Phil Jones also had some problems after the start against Wolverhampton.

Coach Rangnick ranked Rashford and Fernandes behind the Greenwood – Cavani striker pair.

In the first half, MU was lucky not to be leveled 1-1. Striker Ollie Watkins stole the ball from Victor Lindelof’s feet, shot back into the MU goal in the 30th minute. Then, Jacob Ramsey put the ball at the MU player’s feet, changing the direction to make David De Gea stand still.

In the second half, the referee twice denied Aston Villa’s goal. In the 51st minute, Danny Ings finished close to the wall to eliminate De Gea. However, the referee looked at VAR and determined that Ramsey had fouled Cavani earlier.

In the 60th minute, Watkins’ swooping shot made De Gea once again defeated. But Ings fell into an offside position during the drop, leading to the goal being disallowed.

MU’s best opportunities in this match mainly come from counter-attacks. However, Greenwood constantly made sloppy shots. Fernandes also continuously shoots out.

In 90 minutes, Aston Villa held the ball better (57%). MU made 7 shots with 5 situations on target. Aston Villa made 4 shots in this match.

Fernandes has another bad game under coach Rangnick. Greenwood and Rashford played sporadically and have not shown they are ready to shine in Rangnick’s 4-2-2-2 system.
