Going to Saudi Arabia to meet the new boss, why did Newcastle punch the opponent in the face?

Newcastle United’s trip to Saudi Arabia ended with Ciaran Clark being sent off for punching an opponent in a friendly match.

The defender was shown a red card after hitting Al-Ittihad striker Abderrazak Hamdallah, who was also sent off following a scuffle.

Newcastle won 2-1 at King Abdullah Stadium in Jeddah thanks to goals from Allan Saint-Maximin and Ryan Fraser, but Clark’s attack on a local player was not the impression they wanted to leave. This tour is combined with the meeting of the board of directors with the new owners of the club.

Clark left a not very good impression when traveling to Arabia.

In addition to daily training sessions, the players spent time riding trolleys in the dunes, riding karts, taking pictures with Hollywood actor Gerard Butler – who was filming nearby – and dancing in the desert as wearing a traditional Saudi Arabian hat. Some also watched Saudi Arabia’s 1-0 win over Oman yesterday.

Newcastle want to buy more players right in this transfer market in the context that they have a great risk of relegation. They still want to bring in Brighton midfielder Dan Burn and interest remains in Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard. The midfielder has clearly expressed his desire to leave but has encountered many difficulties with the Red Devils leadership.
